Letters and Notes

Dear Mr. Louis A. McKay,

Thank you for the initiative, the compassion, and perseverance you and the members of your organization showed in providing all of the Christmas fixings for twenty-four different Marine Corps families. While you were here, nineteen of those families showed up, making contact with the wonderful folks who were so generous with their time and resources. We have since contacted the other five families, and all have been blessed by your generosity. Those who serve their country do indeed make many sacrifices that often go unheralded by the average citizen. Thank you again for thinking of them, and may God bless you this holiday season.

Yours in Christ,

Chaplain Roger VanDerWerken,

LCDR, United States Navy, Marine Memorial Chapel, Camp Pendleton, California

Dear Louis,

This "Thank You" goes out to you and all of the wonderful families that helped to make our Christmas a lot brighter. Your generosity has touched my family so much that we chose a few less-fortunate than us to donate a couple of the gift cards to. There are some sailors who served with my husband on the USS MOBILE BAY that cannot afford to have much of a Christmas for their families, and we wanted to share with them what we were blessed with. We too would not have had much for our children had it not been for the kindness of all of the people associated with your organization. I hope you do not mind that my husband and I shared what we received with others. God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With Love,

The Didieu Family

Dear Louis and Tanya,

Our family would like to extend our thanks for all of the things your organization did for the military families. This was actually our family's first time to do this, and we had no idea what to expect. This was so overwhelming. Your kindness and caring for all the military families was just great. It is really nice to know that we still have people out there who care enough for the military and their families to make this special holiday a great one. The sponsor family you gave us was just great - a very loving and caring family. Thanks to all of you!

God Bless You!

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Along with Sergeant Major Harrell and on behalf of the Marines and families of Assault Amphibian School Battalion, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your contributions to Sunday's Christmas family event. Your gifts, both tangible and intangible, were extremely meaningful to our Marines and epitomize the close relationship between Camp Pendleton Marines and the local community. My Staff and I were humbled by the outpouring of support and your selfless contributions to our families. I can assure you that your efforts and time spent on behalf of our Marines will not be forgotten. Throughout the Battalion on Monday, all conversations included comments regarding Sunday's event and the overwhelming sense of gratitude felt towards you and of your thoughtfulness.

Please accept an enthusiastic and heartfelt "Thank You" for what you have done for our Marines and their families, and may you and your families enjoy a blessed holiday season.

Sincerely,

F.N. McKenzie

Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Marine Corps, Commanding

Dear Mr. and Mrs. McKay,

Thank you so much for adopting our family. Your generosity is beyond words and will forever touch our hearts. The thought that there are still people out there that are willing to go out of their way to brighten the day of a child or family leaves us in awe. It's not very often that you get to see it happen firsthand. I don't think there will ever be a way that we can say - thank you” enough, but we appreciate it and it will make our Christmas that much brighter. May God bless you and your family in all that you do and the new coming year. Sincerely,

Sgt. Michael Lafnear and Family
